Liverpool’s Lord Mayor is encouraging residents to show their support for the Michael Causer Foundation at a special footballing event this weekend.

On Sunday 8 June, the Lord Mayor will be one of many guests taking part in the Home Cup, at Mossley Hill Athletics Club, in aid of one his charities.

He will even be taking on consort Steve MacFarlane, and anyone else who can thinks they can get a goal past him, in a penalty shoot-out .

Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Gary Millar said: “The Michael Causer Foundation is not only one of my nominated charities but it is a cause that is very close to my heart

“This aims to be a fantastic family event with celebrity guest players turning up to show off some of their footballing skills.

“This is a great opportunity for people enjoy a day out into the community and get involved, or simply watch, some fantastic football displays while raising money for a worthy cause.

“I hope I can encourage as many people as possible to come along on Sunday and enjoy what promises to be a great fun day out.”

The main event of the day, apart from watching the Lord Mayor’s skills on the pitch, will be a match between Merseyside Marauders Football Club and Liverpool Homeless Football Club.

The Michael Causer foundation was set up by the parents of murdered gay teenager Michael Causer to provide housing and support for LGBT young people who are at risk in North-West England.
