Education bosses dress up for World Book Day

Liverpool’s education chiefs got in the spirit of World Book Day on Thursday 2 March.

Mayoral Lead for Primary Schooling Councillor Lana Orr and Assistant Mayor and Cabinet member for education, Councillor Nick Small, visited Northcote Primary School.

The School embraced the occasion with all pupils, staff and even parents dressing up. They arranged reading breakfasts for all pupils and Head Teacher Mr Morgan (akaWilly Wonka) along with Chair of Governors Brian Lawless MBE gave Cllr s a tour of the school which has recently been expanded.

Councillor Lana ‘Peter Rabbit’ Orr said ”World Book Day is always something to look forward to each year as it is such a fun way to celebrate books and the love of reading. It was great to spend the morning with pupils and staff and parents from Northcote Primary, the atmosphere at the school was fantastic and you could tell that reading is something that the school prioritises year round.

“As soon as you walk in the entrance you are greeted with books and displays about reading. Staff and pupils went all out with their costumes and it was great to join in on such a fun-filled day that will have been so memorable for pupils.”

Councillor Nick ‘Harry Potter’ Small added: It was great to see the whole school participating in such a fun event celebrating reading. I was really impressed with the enthusiasm of pupils and staff alike.”
