Plans have been approved for a £1.8 million expansion of a Liverpool primary school due to a projected increased demand on places.
Gilmour Community Infants and Junior School in Garston will have its capacity increased from 420 to 630 through the creation of additional classrooms.
The infants will gain an additional 90 places while the juniors will get space for 120 extra pupils.
The work is set to start this summer and will be completed by September 2015.
Councillor Jane Corbett, Cabinet member for education, said: “This is great news for the school and will address the issue of increasing demand for places.”
Funding has come from a Department for Education scheme to fund expansion at oversubscribed schools which are ranked good or outstanding by Ofsted.
