Staff working for a support programme that provide training for parents and carers of children with autism will not be affected by a review of the service.
The ASD Training Team is having to be reviewed due to pressures on school budgets caused by Government funding cuts – but the council is determined to find alternative funding to enable it to continue.
Councillor Barry Kushner, Cabinet member for Children’s Services and Cllr Nick Small, Assistant Mayor and Cabinet member for Education and Schools, said: “We know that parents and carers were extremely concerned about a recent review announced of the Autism Training Team.
“We would like to reassure them that no staff will lose their posts as they have now been removed from the review. We are exploring all possible options to find alternative funding and are confident the service will continue.
“We are completely committed to Liverpool being an Autism Friendly City and making sure that young people and parents are supported, now and in the future.”
