Back to Black exhibition at Central Library

Back to Black – The Legacy of Liverpool Black Musicians is the theme of a new FREE exhibition at Liverpool Central Library.

The exhibition will feature a collection of photographs, posters memorabilia and artefacts featuring Liverpool musicians and performers of black origins from the 19th Century to the 21st Century. The exhibition will be open to the public during the whole of Black History Month.

The free exhibition opens on Saturday 30 September and runs to Tuesday 31 October.

Louis Julienne, a Trustee and Director at Heritage Development Company Liverpool, said: This unique and historically significant exhibition of the presence and achievements of Liverpool’s black musicians and entertainers over the past 100 years from Gordon Stretton, the mixed-race kid from Scotland Road who became a celebrated jazz band leader in the 1900s to 21st Century musicians and performers like Marsha Ambrosius and Logik Ojapah.”
