Cafe serves up a success

The first community event held at a café run by a Liverpool church proved to be a resounding success.

A Friday Morning Community Cafe at St David’s Church, Childwall  has run successfully for more than two years and its success has motivated the church, to look at opportunities to expand the community facilities.  It has been supported by ward councilors Jeremy Wolfson, Ruth Hirschfield and Frank Hont

The first event was to provide advice about the importance of keeping warm, especially for elderly and vulnerable people, during winter time and getting the best value out of the fuel used. Information packs were also handed out.

“It proved to be very popular,” said Councillor  Wolfson. ” We had a  lot of people calling in at the café and they were given very valuable advice about keeping warm.

“We are now looking forward to monthly events on a variety of subjects which will benefit the local community. It’s a very good base where people can meet as well as getting useful information,”
