The seaside is returning to Calderstones Park this summer.
After a successful first year, the urban beach is coming back to Calderstones Park again for the summer holidays.
The free attraction will be officially opened by Lord Mayor, Councillor Roz Gladden, on Saturday 23 July – and promises to be bigger and better than it was in 2015.
The sandy area will be surrounded by decking and a picket fence, with deck chairs and buckets and spades available. Paid-for children’s rides, a bouncy castle, slides and refreshments will also add to the seaside atmosphere.
Councillor Peter Mitchell, Mayoral Lead for Parks and Open Spaces said: “The urban beach was a huge hit last year and I’m delighted to see it return bigger and better than before.
“It is a great attraction for all ages to come along and enjoy the park and keep the children entertained over the summer holiday.
“Working with our local partners, residents and councilors, it is part of our ongoing commitment to animate our parks across the city for everyone to enjoy.”
The beach will be open each day from 10.30am to 6pm until Sunday 4 September.
