Aspiring models are being given the chance to take part in a world record breaking attempt at the most models on a catwalk, The Very Big Catwalk, held in association with Very.co.uk, and wear a bespoke gown by internationally renowned fashion designer to the stars, Philip Armstrong.
In addition to walking the Very Big Catwalk the models will also win the chance of signing with Liverpool’s Pulse Model Agency – an amazing opportunity to start a career as a model.
The Very Big Catwalk arrives at Liverpool’s Pier Head on July 4th and people from across the region are being encouraged to take part.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to work and walk with professional models and to take to The Very Big Catwalk in an Armstrong gown, during a special segment of the show dedicated to the designer’s collection.
A call out for models will take place on 11th June at the Russell Building in School Lane at Liverpool ONE with an open casting for models. All aspiring models must be aged over 16 and both males and females are welcome at the casting, which will take place between 5.00pm and 7.00pm. Girls must be a minimum height 5ft8 and boys 6ft. Girls are required to bring heels to walk in.
Philip Armstrong and Pulse Model Agency, will be on the lookout for models to win a coveted place on the catwalk.
The Very Big Catwalk, sponsored by Very.co.uk is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the most people on a catwalk during the city’s Transatlantic 175 celebrations over the 4th-5th July weekend.
Liverpool based Philip Armstrong and Tony Burke Armstrong, who both studied fashion locally at the City of Liverpool College, are the designers behind the internationally renowned label Philip Armstrong. Worn on many a red carpet, the pair focus on detail and this has paved the way to an established fashion brand that grows from season to season. Their collections have been worn by a multitude of stars including Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry and now they’re bringing their designs home to The Very Big Catwalk.

“When we were approached we knew it was something we had to get involved with, a way of giving back to the city we both love. To make it extra special we have designed four couture pieces inspired by Liverpool’s heritage and we can’t wait to share them with you, along with our ready-to-wear men’s and womenswear collections.”

Liverpool is on the lookout for thousands of models to break the world record of the most people on a catwalk.
The current record held by Mexico City since November 2013, is 3,083.

Fabric for a number of the gowns designed by Philip Armstrong for the segment will be generously donated by The Fabric Place, which can be found on Stafford Street in Liverpool. The other garments showcased will be from current and previous Philip Armstrong collections.
The models will come together to celebrate Liverpool and its fashion heritage, alongside the communities that call the city home. Regardless of age, sex or background, the people of Liverpool will stand proud to show the world the individuals that make up the heart of the city.
The Very Big Catwalk will take place during the city’s Transatlantic 175 weekend, a city wide celebration of 175 years of transatlantic travel and the relationship between New York and Liverpool. Organised by Liverpool City Council it will be a visual and cultural celebration that spans the food, music and fashion of the decades and Atlantic Ocean. The weekend will also see the departure of the Cunard liner, Queen Mary 2 as she recreates the maiden voyage, originally to Boston, on 4 July 1840.
