Chief Social Worker in city

The Government’s Chief Social Worker has visited Liverpool to meet Children’s Services staff and young people.

Isabelle Trowler (pictured front centre) was particularly interested to hear from the Children in Care Council, who represent young people in care, about how they are working on a new strategy that will ensure their voices are heard more robustly across the council, and what they would change about their experience of social care if they could.

She also shared more detail about her experiences working in Hackney Council, where she implemented innovative changes to their social care model.

The meeting was chaired by Sophie White, a member of the Children in Care Council.
