Christmas came early to a community café in Childwall today, including a visit from Father Christmas.
The Friday Café, held at St David Church’s community café in Childwall, was set up using the Neighbourhood Fund allocation for local Councillors Ruth Hirschfield, Frank Hont and Jeremy Wolfson and has run successfully for more than two years.
And today’s event was a perfect end to a year of monthly community events which saw locals from the community enjoy live music, mince pies and a visit from Father Christmas and all supported by the CADWA Social Club.
Councillor Wolfson said: “During this year we have had community events about a whole range of important topics including health, transport and surviving the winter.
“To round off the year off we decided to hold a special social event where people can get into the festive spirit.
“All the events are very friendly and relaxed and open to the whole community, many of whom we were delighted to see enjoying this event today.
“We look forward to hosting many more social days next year and welcome any ideas and suggestions for topics for future events.”
