The work of ex cunarders will be celebrated at a civic service this week which will be attended by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Tony Concepcion.
On Thursday 18 June, over 150 past Cunard staff will meet up again at a short service at Liverpool Parish Church before heading off to the Town Hall for refreshments with the Lord Mayor.
Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Tony Concepcion said: “This will be one of my first few events as Lord Mayor and I am delighted to be welcoming ex Cunard staff to the Town Hall.
“I hope they will have many tales to tell from their time working for one of the most prestigious cruise lines in the world and I am looking forward to hearing them.
“I am sure it will be a fantastic opportunity for many of them to catch up and reminisce on their time at sea and on land.”
Employees from the pre 1967 era of Cunard, some as old as 101, will be met at Our Lady and St Nicholas by 4 Bell Boys and Mezzo Soprano singer Danielle Thomas will perform before the end of the service.
David Dingle, Chairman of Carnival UK will also be attending and will jointly present a plaque to the rector of Liverpool Parish Church, on behalf of the Cunarders that lost their lives during the war
