A mini-Commonwealth Games village offering a host of sports for people to try planned for Liverpool’s Pier Head on Saturday 3 September has been postponed due to forecast bad weather.
The aim was to promote the city’s intention to bid for the Commonwealth Games in 2026 and build on the enthusiasm created by Team GB’s success at the Olympics in Rio.
A council spokesman said: “The latest forecast shows there will be heavy rain and blustery conditions at the Pier Head on Saturday afternoon, so rather than risk a complete washout we have decided to postpone the mini Commonwealth Games event until a future date.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience and will let people know when it is rearranged.”
