Communities get into the Christmas Spirit

Communities throughout Liverpool have been getting into the Christmas spirit with neighbourhood events bringing people together.

Dingle Bells  saw Father Christmas tour  the  area in a special carriage followed by a free party for children at the Southern Neighbourhood Council .

This was followed by the switch –on of the lights of a Christmas tree in Park Road. Louise Ellman MP joined local councillors and residents at the event (pictured above)

The community came out in force to support the switching on of the community Christmas tree lights in the rose garden on Rice Lane. Children from Rice Lane primary school designed posters to advertise the event and Orrell Park community centre supplied the equipment needed to make Santa’s Grotto.

Residents saw talented school children from Northcote Primary School, brass band and choir brought tonnes of Christmas spirit to the event and brought along baubles for the tree in memory of a loved one.

Father Christmas was also in attendance meeting local children and handing out mince pies, treats and drinks donated by Sainsbury’s.

Local Councillor Cheryl Harrison said;” It was a lovely day supported by the whole community and demonstrates the level of community spirit alive and kicking in Liverpool.”
