Advice and information on many aspects of recycling was given to people who attended a community event at a church cafe
It was the latest in a series at the Friday Morning Café at St David’s Church, Childwall and attracted a large number of local residents
A number of organisations including Liverpool City Council, Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority, Bulky Bob’s, and Love Food Hate Waste offered tips on how to recycle more.
There was also a small furniture giveaway with other useful items also handed out.
Local Councillor Jeremy Wolfson said: “It was very encouraging to see many local people coming to this event.
“We need to recycle a lot more than we do in Liverpool and we are aiming to get out recycling rate up to 55%,.
“The more people know about what can be recycled and why it is important that we don’t just send waste to landfill, the greater the chances are that they will recycle as much as possible.
“I am now looking forward to seeing a big increase in the amount Childwall recycles.”
The Friday Morning Café at St David’s Church and its ‘first Friday of the month’ events were set up using Childwall Councillors Mayoral Neighbourhood Fund allocation. It is supported by local Councillors Jeremy Wolfson, Frank Hont and Ruth Hirschfield.
The next Friday Morning Cafe event at St David’s on 1 April (10 am to noon) will focus on home security.
