Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet meets at the Town Hall tomorrow (Friday 27 May).
This is where the most senior group of councillors come together to take important decisions, usually involving spending significant sums of money, or related to council services.
You may recall we recently moved to a monthly Cabinet cycle in April. However, the Cabinet do get together more frequently if reports need to be considered, and this is why they are meeting again this week.
It’s a busy agenda with issues being considered relating to mix of topics including a Covid-19 relief fund, procuring key services and approving expenditure for events.
Some items on the agenda include:
- A report seeing the approval of a Covid-19 Additional Relief Fund which will see additional funding of £12.1 million awarded to those businesses which need help financial support to pay their business rates.
- Approval is needed in order to start planning River of Light 2022 which is due to take place from 21 October to 6 November.
- The green light is also needed to kick-start a procurement process for a Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service.
