Cultural champion instrumental in bringing music to the masses

Liverpool City Council Cultural Champion, John Wishart will be encouraging over 50’s to rediscover their musical youth on the BBC’s One Show tomorrow evening, Wednesday 3 October.

John, who is a Postman, recently answered a call out from the show asking for community projects that needed a helping hand to come forward.

He told them about his plans for a series of music workshops aimed at the over 50’s which immediately grabbed the attention of producers.

The One Show was in Liverpool on Monday to help kick start John’s idea by setting presenter and vocal coach, Carrie Grant, the challenge of not only finding a group of musical over 50’s, but rehearsing a song to perform live on Wednesday’s One Show.

John, who is fromFairfield, said: “I am delighted that the One Show have chosen to back the musical workshops.

“The idea behind this is to show that music is not only for the young but a great way for everyone to feel part of a group, have fun and meet new people.”

Workshops are due to begin mid October and anyone wanting to join or go along to one of the sessions can find out more by contacting John Wishart, Liverpool Cultural Champion, fifth.beatle@virginmedia.com
