MDI will be animating the streets, squares and shop fronts of Liverpool City Centre this June as their outdoor festival City Steps returns during this year’s International Festival of Business Culture programme: One City, One Summer.
Over Thursday 12th and Friday 13th of June companies will be performing in spaces across the city including Church Street, Williamson Square and Mann Island as well as some surprise pop-up performances in some unexpected places.
Performances this year come from the fantastically twisted The Deep choreographed by Gary Clarke, taciturn’s take on all things feminine with their duet Femme, Company Chameleon’s Push and Co.Lubbertdans will be bringing their quirky duet Floridia from Italy. There will also be the chance to see China Pearl’s wonderful traditional Chinese dance, and look out for the Tea Ladies Tilly and Trixie (Axial Dance) who will be promenading with their tea trolley!
Karen Gallagher, Artistic Director of MDI said: “City Steps is a chance to take world-class dance out into the city and bring Liverpool to life. It is an opportunity for us to engage people in the art form as well as a chance to show the international business community the best in UK Culture and what Liverpool has to offer. MDI is thrilled to be an official partner of IFB Culture: One City, One Summer.”
The full programme and timetable will be released closer to the time via MDI’s website and social media. MDI are encouraging people to follow them on Twitter (@MDIStudio24) and via the hashtag #CitySteps over the course of the festival.
