Deck the ‘St George’s’ Hall

Liverpool’s Lord Mayor will host two very special Christmas Carol concerts this December at Liverpool’s stunning St George’s Hall.

The concerts, which take place on Monday 22 December, will be hosted by Radio Merseyside’s Roger Phillips and will raise money for the Lord Mayors charities; The Alzheimer’s Society, The County of Merseyside Branch of The Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Families Association (SSAFA) – Forces Help, Teenage Cancer Trust and The Reader Organisation.

Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Erica Kemp said: “Christmas is such an important time for people to come together and celebrate and a carol concert is the perfect opportunity to do this.

“I hope that by holding two concerts at different times I can encourage as many people, young and old, to come along and enjoy an afternoon or evening of festive fun.

“Not only will there be something for everyone to enjoy but by purchasing a ticket you will also be helping some very worthy charities, and what better time to help others than at Christmas.

Alan Smith, St George’s Hall Manager said: “St George’s Hall is the perfect venue for families and individuals to come and celebrate Christmas. I am sure it will be an exciting and festive event for all.”

There will be a matinee carol concert at 2.30pm and an evening one at 7pm which is a slightly longer concert. Tickets for the matinee will be £5 for children under 12 and £10 for everyone else and for the evening concert will be £15 each and are available from the Liverpool One Information Centre or at Telephone Box Office: 0844 8000 410

On arrival at both concerts, guests will receive hot chocolate or mulled wine and a mince pie.

Merseyside Police Band will lead the singing of the carols and they will also perform a solo piece during the evening performance, opening and ending the concert with a short fanfare. There will also be Christmas readings and a speech from the Lord Mayor.

Special guests include The Liverpool Signing Choir, The Liverpool Community Choir, Danielle Thomas and Danny Pye from Liverpool, who will perform a selection of jazz and swing songs to get everyone in the feeling festive.

The Maghull Parish Hand bell Ringers will also be attending, providing pre-concert entertainment for all to enjoy.
