Deputy Mayor puts best foot forward to tackle diabetes

Liverpool’s Deputy Mayor is helping launch a fundraising walk in aid of a diabetes charity.

‘One Walk in Liverpool’ at Croxteth Park on Sunday 20 September will see 200 people stepping out to raise money for JDRF, a charity which raises money for research into type 1 diabetes.

People can choose between taking part in a 5K or 10k run or a 5K walk.

Cllr Ann O’Byrne said: “This is a great event for a great cause and I am pleased to be able to help out by supporting it.”

There’ll be face painters, bouncy castles, a balloon modeller, refreshments and a warm up to get people ready to walk.

Afterwards walkers and runners can enjoy over 500 acres of parkland and gardens and visit the historical hall and play areas. There’s a cafe too, if you want to grab a bite to eat. T-shirts will be available on the day for a suggested donation of £5 each.

People can register on the day at the front of Croxteth Hall – the fee is £10 for over 18s and free for under 18s.
