A school choir will help bring the spirit of Christmas to Dingle this week when Christmas tree lights are switched on.
On Friday 6 December at 4.30pm, St Cleopas primary school choir will join with Riverside MP Louise Ellman as she switches on the Community Christmas Tree lights.
This will mark the start of a series of festive events for old and young, taking place over the next few weeks.
Councillor Steve Munby, cabinet member for neighbourhoods said: “This is a great opportunity for the community to come together and get into the festive spirit.
“I would encourage as many people as possible to take part in one of the community Christmas events taking place over the next few weeks. There really is something for everyone to enjoy.
The switch on will take place at Park Road next to the junction of Beresford Road by the One Stop Shop.
On Sunday 8 December Santa Claus will be coming to Riverside at noon. Santa and his helpers will be touring the area in his one horse open sleigh, starting on Cockburn Street. He will then hand out presents to local children from his Grotto at the Southern Neighbourhood Community Centre on Northumberland Street.
The festivities continue on Thursday 12 December from noon – 5pm at the Southern Neighbourhood Community Centre with the Dingle Bells pensioners Christmas Cabaret featuring Dickie Hart & The Pacemakers, Bingo, Raffles and more.
