Which dog will have its day?

One lucky  dog will be exchanging its collar for a Mayoral lead this week.

The voting will take place this week for the coveted title of “Canine Mayor of Stanley Bark” with the winner holding the sparkly lead for a year.

The Beautiful Dog competition with voting through Facebook, is part of a family fun day at Stanley Park in Wednesday 16 April(11am  to 3pm) as part of Everton in the Community’s Healthy Family Project.

And there will also be an opportunity for dog owners to have their pets microchipped  along with a basic health check from the Dogs Trust, in partnership with Your Housing.

Councillor Steve Munby, city council cabinet member, said: “Stanley Park is becoming Stanley Bark for the day. As well as the fun events there is the opportunity to have dogs micro-chipped before the law changes as, on 6 April next year, all dogs have to be chipped. So this is great chance to get micro-chipping done for free and your pet could end up as Mayor of Stanley Bark!”
