Work on Edge Lane in Liverpool is well underway, following a road collapse at the end of June.
Engineers are working deep underground to repair 15 metres of damaged sewer.
Mike Wood, United Utilities wastewater network business manager said: “We established we had 15 metres of sewer to repair, which requires three excavations to enable us to install the new sewer pipework.
“The good news, our work has been progressing well and we aim to have the repair complete by the first week in August.
“The gas team then needs to return to complete some work, having assisted us in making the area safe. We will then work closely with Liverpool City Council to restore the area and get Edge Lane completely back open, which is likely to be on or near August, 11.
“We understand the disruption this work is causing and thank the community for their patience.”

United Utilities is using a temporary overland section of sewer pipe, combined with pumps, to bypass the damaged section of sewer, to keep customers’ toilets flushing as normal, while the repair takes place.
The diversion around the closed section of Edge Lane remains in place.
