Elvis has left the (Municipal) Building

Liverpool City Council’s Chief Executive is getting in the spirit of the inaugural Rock n Roll Half Marathon by running dressed as Elvis Presley.

Ged Fitzgerald will be swapping his blue suede shoes for trainers on Sunday 25 May when he ditches his usual work suit for a special white costume, wig and shades in homage to the King of Music.

He is running in aid of the Lord Mayor’s Charities and When You Wish Upon A Star, which aims to grant the wishes of children from the age of 2 to 16 years who are suffering from a life threatening or terminal illness.

The Lord Mayor’s Charities are The Linda McCartney Centre; The Whitechapel Centre; Variety – The Children’s Charity and The Michael Causer Foundation.

Ged joked: “I have decided to get all shook up by running the race in full Elvis costume but am hoping that taking part doesn’t leave me tender!

“Seriously though, this is a fantastic opportunity for me to raise money for some extremely worthwhile causes and I am looking forward to taking part in what will be a great event for the city.”
