City at night from Liverpool Cathedral Tower

Final twilight tower tour

Visitors have one last chance to see the lights go on around Liverpool from the top of Liverpool Cathedral’s tower this Thursday.

The tower remains open to visitors during the day throughout the year, but October 25th sees the end of this year’s Thursday evening Twilight Tower openings.

The Cathedral tower stands 154m (500′) above the River Mersey, allowing for unparalleled panoramas that take in Liverpool, Wales and beyond as the sun goes down and the lights come on. This Thursday the tower will remain open until 8.00pm with the last ticket at 7.30pm.

This season has been another successful one for the Cathedral, with the introduction of six special evenings as well as the usual tower access, that allowed the public in to the bell chamber, and gave them a chance to have a go at hand bell ringing and to meet the bell ringers.

The tower and bell evenings have been such a success that the Cathedral is looking at hosting similar one-off tower evening events outside of the usual season – more details to follow.
