Finishing touches for Exhibition Centre

The final preparations are underway on Exhibition Centre Liverpool ahead of its opening in one month’s time.

The 8,100 sqm venue is the latest addition to ACC Liverpool, currently home to BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena.  It will host trade and consumer exhibitions; large national and international conferences; banquets; concerts and sporting events on a national and international scale.

It will more than double the existing 7,125 sqm at the waterfront complex to 15,225 sqm of integrated and flexible event facilities.  The 8,100 sqm exhibition hall can be used as a single building or divided into three.  ACC Liverpool will become the only purpose-built interconnected arena, conference and exhibition centre in Europe.

A series of events are already confirmed including Wounds Expo which is the first to take place, on September 2 and 3.

Bob Prattey, chief executive of The ACC Liverpool Group, said: “The construction of Exhibition Centre Liverpool has been a tremendous journey since we announced our plans in 2011 and we are now busy putting the finishing touches to our new venue.

“This will allow us to host many more exhibitions, concerts and conferences, all of which will increase the current economic benefit we generate into the city.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors to a variety of events when we open our doors next month.”

The venue will feature an atrium glazed with waterfront views as well as food and beverage outlets, multiple meeting rooms and a business centre.  External areas include a riverside terrace overlooking the River Mersey as well as exhibition space which will be used for stand-alone conferences, banquets and events.

It will include an integrated 216-room Pullman hotel which is taking bookings from January next year.  Both will be interconnected to ACC Liverpool via a pedestrian link bridge.

Laura Denne, of Wounds Expo, said: “We are excited to be the first event to take place in Exhibition Centre Liverpool and are confident that our exhibitors and visitors will be as impressed as we are with the new venue’s waterfront location and facilities.”

Public shows confirmed so far include The Ultimate Christmas Fair; Toytopia; Dualco Antiques and Collectors Fair; Bliss Wedding Shows’ The Liverpool Wedding Show; Girls Day Out; MCM Expo; The Allergy and Free From Show North and the Telegraph Cruise and Travel Show.

Trade exhibitions include Lift Ex and the Federation of Petroleum Suppliers.  Conferences include RenewableUK in October this year and the European Association for International Education (EAIE) in September 2016.
