Fire Station Opened

Belle Vale Community Fire Station has been officially opened.

Maria Eagle, MP for Garston and Halewood, and the Lord Mayor of Liverpool Councillor Gary Millar were the special guests at the opening and were  given a tour of the new station in Childwall Valley Road.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service Chief Fire Officer Dan Stephens said: “The new Belle Vale Community Fire Station has state-of-the-art facilities that will be fit for future use for firefighters and the community.

“The dated and expensive to maintain former station has been replaced by new energy efficient buildings that will be of benefit to the whole community. It is great to see the work completed and the station officially opened.”

Belle Vale Community Fire Station also has a tiled mosaic designed by pupils from Our Lady of the Assumption Primary Lord Mayor at Belle Vale Opening  Credit Tony ThomasSchool, Hedgefield Road, Belle Vale, Liverpool. Four of the pupils from the school who helped design the mosaic also attended the official opening of the station.

Guests at the official opening also watched a drill where firefighters based at the new station rescued a weighted dummy from their new training tower using a ladder and rope access gear.

Belle Vale Community Fire Station is among seven that have been built across Merseyside as part of a two-year Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project.
