Over £1,000 has been raised for a good ‘Claus’ by a Liverpool City Council employee who has spent December dressed as Father Christmas.
‘Christmas’ Tree Officer Peter ‘Ho Ho’ Howson was inspired to hold a ‘sponsored Santathon’ after he grew his beard and his boss said he looked the spit of the Big Man himself.
Every day in the office and while out and about inspecting trees, Peter has been in full festive garb – much to the amusement of colleagues, friends and family alike.
He went to great lengths to look the part, including getting his beard dyed snowy white at ‘Hair We Are’ salon in Childwall.
Said Peter: “I’ve had a fantastic response to my Santathon and I’m very grateful to everyone who has sponsored me. They will definitely be on Santa’s nice list! Every penny I have received will help the crucial work CHICs does, supporting children with cancer and their families.”
Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, said: “I take my (Santa) hat off to Peter, for raising such an amazing amount of money.
“I’m proud of everything council staff have done this year to raise over £16,000 for charities CHICs and Chasing the Stigma, as well as supporting two foodbank appeals and donating Christmas presents to underprivileged children.
“But Peter’s efforts are the icing on the (Christmas) cake. With over a grand raised, he’s absolutely sleigh-ed it!”
Peter’s Just Giving sponsorship page is still open for any donations, big or small.
