Friday café focuses on staying warm this winter

Staying warm this winter was the focus of the latest community event at the Friday Café, at St David’s Church in Childwall.

Dozens of residents turned out on 2 November to get expert advice find out more about keeping their homes warm, energy efficiency, healthy eating, benefits maximisation, adult social care and keeping active.

The event was also attended by Mayor Joe Anderson.

Councillor Jeremy Wolfson said: “It was great to see such a fantastic turnout from local residents at our latest Friday café.

“With winter just around the corner, we were keen to give people advice on the best ways to stay warm over the coming months. Particularly thanks to Healthy Homes for organising the event.”

Everyone who attended was entered into a free prize draw.

The Friday Café was set up using a slice of Mayoral Neighbourhood Fund by Cllrs Jeremy Wolfson and Liz Parsons. It has run every week for more than four years, with an event on the first Friday of every month.
