Gale warning

The Met Office have issued  a Red  severe weather warning for high winds.

The warning will be in place for Merseyside from 1.30pm until 9pm on Wednesday 12 February.

Winds are expected of up to 80 mph in exposed locations.  Winds of this strength can cause structural damage and bring down trees and power lines resulting in the loss of electricity supplies.  Large waves may also affect the coast.

The city council has been working with partners to try and ensure public safety during the high winds and offers the following advice:

  • Avoid unnecessary journeys or, if you have to travel allow more time for your journeys
  • Where possible avoid going into parks  and coastal areas
  • Avoid parking or walking under trees
  • Secure outdoor loose items or bring them inside
