Government support for energy prices – council tax rebate

On Thursday 3 February, the Government announced measures to help protect households from the steep cost of living increases, such as higher energy bills and food prices.

One of the measures announced was a one-off Council Tax rebate of £150 for properties in Council Tax Bands A-D.

A further measure includes the creation of a discretionary fund to help people who are on a low income and living in properties with Council Tax Bands E-H (who wouldn’t otherwise be eligible).

The Government has asked councils to make arrangements to administer the rebate at the start of the new financial year, in April.

We are currently preparing yearly Council Tax bills for residents, and details of the rebate will be included in the correspondence you receive from us in the coming weeks.

Please bear with us while we await further information from government, and make the required alterations to our bills.
