Green waste collections are set to resume from Monday (2 August) after they were temporarily suspended due to a spike in Covid-19 related absences.
Councillor Abdul Qadir, Cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, said: “We are pleased to confirm that garden waste collections will resume on Monday.
“Residents should put their green bins out as usual before 6.30am on their scheduled collection day. Due to the break in the service, we are expecting high demand, so the service may not run quite as smoothly at first. If your green bin is not emptied, please leave it out and we will ensure it is collected as soon as possible.
“If you’re not sure of your collection date, head to the city council’s website for all the information you need.”
The two-week suspension, which began on Monday, 19 July, allowed the council’s waste collection contractor, LSSL, to focus their available staffing resources on the collection of the general waste purple and blue recycling bins.
During this period, new bubbles were created, with a focus on staff who have been double jabbed. This has ensured the service can resume.
