Green waste collection winter suspension

Households in Liverpool are being reminded not to leave their green bins out for collection between 5 December 2017 and 25 February 2018.
The final scheduled collections are taking place this week before the green waste collection service is suspended for the winter due to the annual drop in demand.
Councillor Steve Munby, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: “We know there is a low demand for these services over the winter, and this is something we have done for the last few years.
“We can make better use of our crews carrying out other tasks which are needed and dealing with the waste and recycling collections over the busy Christmas and New Year period.
“We have placed stickers on all bins to notify people about the arrangements.”
The crews normally tasked with collecting green waste will be redeployed to assist with cleaning alleyways and helping with refuse and recycling rounds.
Both of Liverpool’s Household Waste Recycling Centres at Old Swan and Otterspool take green waste and are open every day. Details are at, or for details of centres across Merseyside visit
There will still be a number of collection points for Christmas trees throughout the city after the festive period.
