Green waste collections suspended

Householders are being reminded not to leave their green bins out for collection between 7 December and 14 February.

The green waste collection service is being suspended during this time but there will be a number of collection points for Christmas trees throughout the city.

Councillor Steve Munby, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said; “Experience shows that there is a low demand for the services at this time of the year.

“Suspending the service will enable the crews to carry out other tasks which are needed and deal with the waste and recycling collections over the Christmas and New Year period effectively.

“We have notified householders about the arrangements and I believe they will understand the reasons for it and cooperate.”
