STAYING healthy is the subject of the latest event at a community café in Childwall.
The Friday Morning Café at St David’s Church was set up using Neighbourhood Fund allocation and has run successfully for more than two years. It is supported by local councillors Jeremy Wolfson, Frank Hont and Ruth Hirschfield.
A monthly community event has been introduced on the first Friday of each month.
The next event on June 5 (10am to Noon) will be about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. There will be the opportunity to try out some easy chair-based exercises, enjoy free fruit and find out new ideas to help keep in good shape. Liverpool Community Health will be in attendance promoting cancer symptoms awareness and screening.
Councillor Wolfson, said: “The community events have proved a to be a big hit. At the last event we had a very good turn-out for Dementia Friends sessions presented by the Alzheimer’s Society.
“And those attending the next session you well be able to get great ideas on staying healthy in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It’s also an opportunity to make new friends.
“We would also welcome people’s suggestions for topics that matter to them so they can feature in the coming months.”
