Hillsborough documents finally disclosed

Today marks a major milestone for the families of the 96, and the whole of the city, as the Hillsborough documents are disclosed and the Independent Panel publishes its official report on the tragedy.

The Panel was established over two years ago to ‘secure maximum possible disclosure’ of all documents relating to the disaster. They have assessed more than 400,000 documents and their report details how this information adds to the public’s understanding of the disaster and its aftermath.

The families and the people of Liverpool have waited a long time for the truth.

Liverpool City Council hopes it provides the families and friends of those who died, and all those whose lives have been affected by what happened 23 years ago, with the answers they have fought so hard for.

Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the 96.
