Don’t miss out on a selection of fun and educational workshops for youngsters at some of Liverpool’s libraries this month.
The Join Explore workshops aim to teach children literacy, creative writing and maths skills in an exciting and informative way.
Taking place at Allerton, Childwall and Spellow libraries, youngsters can enjoy the following sessions:
- A Day at the Zoo – aimed at 5 and 6 year olds they can learn all about descriptive words, rhyme and number facts from animals such as the hysterical hyena and the humongous hippo.
- Space Mission – this workshop is aimed at 8 to 10 year olds and teaches them about the universe and everything in it. It’s an alien-inspired creative writing workshop, encouraging children to use their imaginations and produce amazing pieces of work.
- Telling the Time – this session is for 6 to 8 year olds aims to introduce how time is measured in everything from months and minutes, and will also cover the key concepts of time measurement as covered in the national curriculum.
Councillor Lana Orr, Cabinet Member for Skills and Employment, said: “These workshops are not only a great way to keep youngsters entertained during the summer holidays, but they also improve maths and literacy skills and encourage children to use their imagination.
“There’s also the great social side to being part of a creative group and I hope lots of families take the opportunity to make the most of these free sessions.”
