This summer is all about cycling and as Chris Froome claims his second Tour de France win in the last three years, British Cycling and Sky, in partnership with Liverpool Council are encouraging everyone to get inspired and get involved in cycling with Sky Ride Liverpool on Sunday 6 September.
You don’t have to be the next Chris Froome or Geraint Thomas to enjoy getting on two wheels though. Whether you’re a new or experienced rider, everyone can take part in Sky Ride Liverpool. Sky Ride Big Bike events are wonderful festival style celebrations of all things cycling. Streets will be closed to traffic and cyclists are encouraged to get together with friends and family to explore Liverpool from a whole new perspective.
The traffic-free route will go through some of the city’s most spectacular scenery and there’ll be lots of entertainment and fun activities to enjoy along the way too. Best of all, it’s completely free.
What’s more, if you haven’t been on your bike for a while, you don’t need to worry, as the bike experts at Halfords are offering a free bike safety check (worth £14.99) to everyone who registers for Sky Ride Liverpool.
Assistant Mayor and Cabinet member for leisure, tourism and events Councillor Wendy Simon, said: ‘Sky Ride is a fantastic opportunity for thousands of people to hit the traffic-free streets of Liverpool and take in some of the city sights at their own pace.
“It encourages families and individuals of all abilities to saddle up and have a fun day out, and get fit at the same time so it really is win-win.
“I hope as many people as possible register and make Sunday 6 September a huge success.”
