A vigil is taking place in Liverpool on Saturday 12 May calling for an end to the war in Yemen.
The conflict, which has now lasted more than 1,000 days, has seen more than 12,000 deaths and 50,000 more injured while 7.5 million people are on the brink of famine – equivalent to the population of 16 cities the size of Liverpool.
Stephen Twigg MP said: “This Saturday I will be standing with Liverpool Friends of Yemen to call for peace.
“In Liverpool, Yemen has friends who are standing up and calling for peace. I would urge anyone who supports peace in Yemen to join us at 1pm outside Lime Street Station this Saturday.
“The calls for peace must be louder than ever before.”
The vigil will take place in front of Lime Street station from 1-2pm.
