Liverpool Triathlon on Saturday

The British Triathlon Championships Liverpool will take place over one fantastic and competitive day of racing on Saturday 13th July 2013. Nearly 2,000 triathletes from all over the country will compete in an attempt to gain national titles.

It promises to be a fantastic spectacle of the sport in the city of Liverpool. The day will start with competition across all age groups and finish with the Paratriathlon and Elite National Championships.

Robert Puestow, Managing Director, Upsolut Sport UK said “We are looking forward to a busy day of racing, with so many triathletes making the trip to the very heart of Liverpool. To see such a variety of athletes lining up next to each other from young and old to paratriathletes and of course the elites is what triathlon is all about.”

Liverpool City Council’s cabinet member for culture and tourism, Councillor Wendy Simon, said: “This event is going to be a major highlight in the city’s sporting calendar.

“An event of this calibre, with the backdrop of our world famous waterfront, has proven to be a real pull for triathletes of all abilities. It’s sure to be a wonderful day for all the competitors and the crowds who will line the streets to cheer them on.”

The event will see Olympic athletes, paratriathletes and club level athletes, ranging from 16 to 85 years of age, battle it out in and around the docks, including running past the Echo Arena and the iconic Liver Building.

It starts and finishes at Kings Dock, where there will also be a ‘Triathlon Village’ featuring entertainment, food, exhibitions and information on the sport.
