The first in a series of five local history talks was hosted by Mayoral Lead for Older People (South) Cllr Jeremy Wolfson.
The Local History course, supported by Cllr Liz Parsons Cabinet Member for Communities and partnerships, is held on Wednesdays in June from 1pm-3pm at St David’s Church in Childwall.
The talks are free to the local community with no need to book. The five week local history course will cover the first castle in Liverpool, King John’s charter of 1207, the civil war, the slave trade, the development of the docks and several more topics of local interest.
Mayoral Lead for Older People (South) Cllr Jeremy Wolfson said;
‘I am thrilled with the turn out and hope to role this out across the city. I hope to highlight the issue of social isolation and courses like this are a great way for everybody to get involved and engage with their wider community. I would also like to thank the Adult Learning Service for helping to deliver this course’
