Lord Mayor meets marvellous mums

Liverpool’s new Lord Mayor, Councillor Erica Kemp will begin her year by recognising the work of ten outstanding mums from the region.

On Thursday 12 June at the Alicia Hotel Councillor Kemp will attend The Echo mum of the year awards at a special celebratory afternoon to recognise mums from Merseyside

Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Erica Kemp said: “Being a mum and a grandmother myself I appreciate the hard work and dedication it takes to look after young children.

“All mothers are often overlooked in favour of their sons or daughters and as any parent will know, we always put our children’s needs before our own.

“That is why I am delighted to be here today, mixing with these fantastic and inspirational women who are taking a well-deserved afternoon off to enjoy a cup of tea in relaxed surroundings.

“I hope they all enjoy their day, they have certainly earned it.”

In a separate event in the evening, she will also show her support for one of her chosen charities, the Reader Organisation when she attends the Globe Theatre production of Much Ado About Nothing at the Mansion House in Calderstones Park. The Reader Organisation have brought the Mansion Garden Theatre back into use

Councillor Erica Kemp said: “It’s a great honour for me to be starting my term as Lord Mayor by attending an event to support one of my chosen charities.

“This will be a stunning evening and I am delighted that the Globe Theatre has chosen the Mansion House to put on this fantastic production. It’s a double pleasure for me as the Mansion House is based in the ward I represent.

“I hope everyone who attends enjoys it as much as I am sure I will.”
