Lord Mayor to open Ryder’s 60th anniversary exhibition in Liverpool

Ryder Architecture continues to celebrate 60 years of leading and award winning architectural design across the UK with its exhibition in Mann Island, Liverpool, which opens on 3 October.

Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Gary Millar, will start proceedings, acknowledging the exciting work Ryder is undergoing in the north west, including Liverpool Science Park’s Innovation Centre 3 and Holly Lodge Girls’ College.

The impressive 16 metre long exhibition covers the heritage, values, ethos and design expertise of the company, consistently carried through an impressive body of work over six decades. It will remain open to the public throughout October with a range of events taking place, including a ‘beat the architect’ contest using Lego, involving children from Holly Lodge Girls’ College.

The exhibition then travels to Newcastle where it ends the year of celebrations in the city where the company was founded in 1953.

Lord Mayor of Liverpool, councillor Gary Millar, said “Here in Liverpool, Ryder is working on some extremely exciting projects including schools and major new innovation offices and labs at Liverpool Science Park. These projects provide great examples of a practice working proactively with local government and business to develop lasting, elegant buildings fitting of a great city. Ryder is also involved in huge renovation projects further afield and nationally they work in many different sectors including major transport hubs, healthcare, leisure and residential.”

Ryder’s senior partner Peter Buchan said “This is a momentous occasion which provides us with a unique opportunity, to underline a point in our history where we can celebrate great achievement, not just in architecture, but in our values and ethos as a company, demonstrated by becoming a Sunday Times top 100 company this year.”

Ryder’s Liverpool office is fundraising for Zoë’s Place which offers specialist care for children up to the age of five with life threatening conditions. A whole host of activity has got underway, including a 7,194 mile cycle ride to Hong Kong on an exercise bike.

Carol Kirkham, fundraising manager at Zoë’s Place said “In order to raise much needed funds for our hospice, Ryder staff have pledged to undertake many fundraising initiatives including a static cycle ride to Hong Kong.

“Currently, it costs our charity in excess of £3,500 per day just to maintain our current level of care and we can only achieve this through the ongoing support we receive from partners such as Ryder who work tirelessly to keep the doors of our hospice open. We cannot thank their staff enough for their unceasing support.”
