Lord Mayor’s Community Celebration

Liverpool’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Erica Kemp will welcome local community members to a special civic celebration this week.

On Sunday June 22nd at 5.30pm, residents from Councillor Kemp’s Church ward and the surrounding L18 area are invited to attend a short service to thank them for the work they do in their community and the support they have offered to give to the Lord Mayor.

The service will take place at Calderstones School Hall, there will be a children’s choir, performances from pupils at Calderstones, along with readings from different faith communities and an address from the Lord Mayor of Liverpool Councillor Erica Kemp.

Councillor Kemp said: “This service is an opportunity for me to personally thank residents in advance for their support during my year as Lord Mayor.

“I would also like to highlight the work carried out by the local community, their willingness to help each other and the effort they put in to looking after the area in which they live is a credit to each and every one of them.

“This will be a chance for the community to meet and mingle and enjoy some light refreshments. I also hope to be able to have a chat with as many residents as possible.

“I sincerely hope I can encourage as many people as possible to come along to this fantastic event.”

The service has been organised by representatives from local churches, and members of the Jewish and Muslim communities, along with the Lord Mayor herself. It is expected to last no more than an hour and will be followed by refreshments.

Representatives from various community groups, residents associations, schools, churches and other faith groups will be attending the event along with members of the Territorial Army, whose barracks are in the area.
