Nativity service

The annual service by the sisters from the Missionaries of Charity convent in Seel Street at the city’s nativity scene will take place on Saturday 15 December.

This will be followed by a performance of the nativity by the Christmas tree in Church Street.

This year the nativity scene is in the Peace Garden at the back of Radio Merseyside in College Lane.

It is the first time in three years that it has been sited outside and follows discussions with some of the religious groups that visit each year and othe city centre stakeholders.

Its location was chosen because it is in a comparatively quiet area, away from the busiest retail area, but one which is easily accessible and one in which both individuals and groups can have time to reflect and pray. It also has 24 hour security

This year’s Christmas lights also has new features in Church Alley depicting the three Kings travelling to Bethlehem and a nativity scene.
