Cllr Sam East has been appointed as Cabinet Member for Housing at Liverpool City Council.
He was previously Assistant Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Communities and Streetscene.
Cllr Sarah Doyle, who has held the position since 2021, is taking a 12 month sabbatical.
Council Leader, Cllr Liam Robinson, said: “I would like to thank Cllr Doyle for her incredible hard work on housing over the last three years. She is hugely passionate about housing and has played a key role in driving forward projects that are hugely important to the Council, such as the Local Plan, work on our housing strategy and tackling homelessness.
“I look forward to welcoming her back to the role in the future. I would like to welcome Cllr Sam East to the Cabinet; I know he will do a great job.”
Cllr Sarah Doyle said: “This has been a difficult decision for me to make however it is the right one for me at this time. It has been a great honour to serve in the role over the last three years. I am grateful to Cllr Robinson for being so supportive of my decision.”
Cllr Sam East said: “I am honoured to take up the position of Cabinet Member for Housing. Ensuring that people have access to decent, affordable housing is a priority for the Council and I am determined to deliver on our priorities.”
The appointment is effective from today, Wednesday 8 May.
