Nominations Open for the Liverpool City Region Powerful Together Awards 2013

Social Enterprise Network (SEN), the regions representative and governing body for social and community businesses in Liverpool City Region has announced that nominations for the Powerful Together Award 2013 are now open. The awards, which will be presented on September 19th at a ceremony held at Liverpool Town Hall, will provide an opportunity for social and community enterprises in the Liverpool City Region to step forward, and be recognised by their representing body.

The awards, now in their second year, will recognise exceptional businesses, organisations and people from across the City Region that have provided significant economic, social and environmental benefits to their community. In total, 15 awards are up for grabs that will pay tribute to those within the social enterprise sector, as well as those outside the sector, that have made significant contributions towards its development.

Rosie Jolly, Chief Executive Officer of Social Enterprise Network said:’Once again we are delighted to honour the leading social enterprise sector we have in this region. The social businesses within our region have always taken a proactive lead in developing the sector, which has become an example of best practice for the rest of the UK. They have created new business models, and new ways of thinking and working that have been successfully replicated time and again. These awards will showcase the very best businesses and individuals we have, as well as publically shining the spotlight on a sector that provides untold social, environmental and economic benefits for us all.’

Nominations are now being taken for the Powerful Together Awards across 15 categories. Twelve open solely for social enterprises include: Community Enterprise Award; Rising Star Award; Creativity Award; Green Social Enterprise Champion; Healthy Environment Award; Growth Award; Social Advocate Award; Entrepreneur of the Year Award; Arts and Cultural Award; Best Example of Collaboration, Effective Partnership or Consortium; Behaviour Changed Award and Members Choice Award.

The Mentoring Champion of the Year Award, and the Pay It Forward Award are open to anyone working within the public, private and third sectors. The final award, the Mayor’s Award for Social Innovation sponsored by Liverpool City Council will be selected from all the shortlisted applicants.

Rosie continues:’One of the strengths of the regions social enterprise sector is due to the collaborative approach many of our members and associates take with people and organisations from across all sectors. It is important for us to recognise this by celebrating the contributions people and businesses have made to their community, whether they work within a social enterprise or not.’

Those wishing to enter the Powerful Together Awards have until midnight on Friday August 16th to send their completed entries to SEN. Judging will take place from August 27th with the shortlist announced on Wednesday September 4th.
