Norris Green Park was transformed into a winter wonderland recently with an Elf Dash and Liverpool’s only pop-up open air Grotto!
The healthy festive event, which was attended by more than 40 families, was even blessed by a sporty Father Christmas!
After he and his Elf family started the fun run, a ‘Santa Shortcut’ was made to the half way mark for a tangerine stop, then another to the finish line to hand out bottles of water.
Once the dash was run and presents handed out, families enjoyed a craft fair, courtesy of Kinshipcarers who also donated new hats and gloves for the children to take away.
The aim of the event was to promote Norris Green Park, get kids active and highlight services that are available in Norris Green, such as Autism in Motion, who were also in attendance – to residents at the new housing estate.
Councillor Sharon Ross, who helped organise the event, said: “The day was a huge success – more I’d hoped for! It was an event that had a real ‘feel good factor’, and was a great example of the community spirit in Norris Green.
“The feedback we’ve had from the families was brilliant – its put everyone in the Christmas mood and we’re already looking at more events for the park and showcase what a fabulous asset it is.”
