Queen of Europe sends good luck message for Three Queens Ball

Conchita Wurst, winner of last year’s Eurovision Song Contest, turned hostess, has sent a message of good luck in her absence from the Stanley Street Quarter’s Three Queens Ball taking place on May 22nd.

The message comes as the three course, luxury menu is announced for the event from award-winning independent deli and restaurant Delifonseca. Guests are guaranteed a culinary masterpiece featuring a ‘Rosewater and Pistachio Queen Of Puddings’ and ‘Trio of Starters’ inspired by the luxury cruise liners which will be arriving that weekend. The main will be a celebration of world cuisine serving Roasted Goosnargh Chicken Thighs with Clementine and Arak accompanied by Seeded Cous Cous and Caramelised Fennel.

The ball, taking place at Exchange Station on Friday 22nd May is being organised by the Stanley Street Quarter CIC, the company dedicated to developing Liverpool’s LGBT Quarter as a way of putting Liverpool’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans* community on the map during the city’s summer events calendar.

Andi Herring, Chair of Stanley Street Quarter CIC said: “This event is to raise the profile of Liverpool’s LGBT community and the Stanley Street Quarter – so what better time is there to hold it than when the fleet are coming?,

We have a great pool of talent within our venues and local community in the Quarter, so we would be crazy to not shine a spotlight onto this when there are over one million visitors expected to visit our city.”

Entertainment on the evening will be provided by local acts, including the winners of this year’s ‘Out On Stage’ competition held by the Michael Causer Foundation (announced May 7th), two performances from the award winning House Of Suarez and will all be drawn together by local drag legend The Vivienne.

The Liverpool based Michael Causer Foundation will be the nominated charity for the evening with the aim to raise money to help them on their mission to ‘educate, motivate and accommodate’ young people about LGBT issues and support those who are left with nowhere to turn. A special tribute will be made to Michael on the night thanks to the Liverpool Signing Choir.

Gary Millar, Chair of the Michael Causer Foundation said “On behalf of Marie and Mike, Michael’s mum and dad and the Trustees of the Michael Causer Foundation I would like to thank the Stanley Street Quarter and Liverpool’s LGBT and straight communities for their ongoing support in helping us tackle hate crime, ignorance and bigotry. We are so grateful for any fundraising help and this event and others keeps Michael’s legacy alive.”

The ball joins a growing line-up as part of the city’s One Magnificent City programme around the Cunard 175th anniversary and first transatlantic voyage.
