Investment from Liverpool businesses has already exceeded targets by 50% with a strong team ready to showcase the city at the European property conference, MIPIM Cannes, delivered by Liverpool Vision.
Hot on the heels of the inaugural MIPIM UK, 27 businesses have signed up for sponsorship of the Liverpool presence at the international event between March 10 and 13.
New sponsors for this year’s event include Arup, Active Profile, Chrysalis Fund, City Residential, Colliers International, Curtins Consulting, Falconer Chester Hall, Glenbrook Property, GVA, Innov8 Safety Solutions, ISG, KPMG, Liverpool Chamber, Liverpool John Moores University, Pochin Construction, Redrow and University of Liverpool.
They join existing MIPIM Cannes sponsors Brabners, Bruntwood, Countryside Properties, Deloitte, Downing, Grosvenor, Harcourt, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Liverpool BID and Peel.
Liverpool MIPIM steering group chairman Sean Beech, said: “The backing for MIPIM Cannes from the private sector this year has been the best yet and this indicates the increasing strength of the property sector in the Liverpool City Region. It closely follows the first ever UK version of the event which was a tremendous success for Liverpool and indeed joint exhibitors Manchester, with extensive enquiries around potential development opportunities.”
Beech continued: “As an internationally celebrated city, Liverpool has so much to offer in terms of assets and development opportunities. With the full backing of businesses in the city, we will stand together to proudly showcase the best the city has to offer at Cannes with a clear aim to attract further inward investment.”
Max Steinberg, chief executive of Liverpool Vision, said: “Private sector businesses will only put their money behind things which they see a real value in, so I think their eagerness to be involved with the city’s presence at MIPIM speaks volumes and we are delighted with their drive and support. A look through the list of sponsors reveals the variety and strength of Liverpool’s offer, and why attending MIPIM is a must for a city of this size and ambition.”
Andy Delaney from Colliers International, which is a new sponsor this year, said: “As a global real estate firm, we are fully aware of MIPIM’s potential as a platform to promote and showcase what a city has to offer to an international audience. We kicked off 2015 by announcing we were to open a new office in Liverpool and we’re keen to further demonstrate our commitment to the city by attending MIPIM as part of the Liverpool delegation. Liverpool has a distinctive proposition and we look forward to working alongside our Liverpool partners to promote all that the city has to offer at this year’s conference in Cannes.”
Liverpool is taking the same exhibition hall position as it did in 2014, stand R33.14 in the Riviera Hall and key themes for the stand will be commerce, connections and creativity.
