Young people looking for a route into the construction industry are being invited to information sessions about a course which can lead to employment.
The sessions take place at St Dunstan’s Church on Thursday 24 July.
The Routeway into Construction is a short course followed by four weeks of work experience placements on sites in Liverpool, which could help you get work in the construction industry.
To be eligible for the routeway course you will need to be 16 – 24 years old and live in the L7, L8, L15, L16 and L17 postcode areas.
You will work towards the following areas of training and qualifications:
• First Aid Certificate
• Manual Handling Certificate
• Fire Safety Awareness Certificate
• Health and Safety certificate
• You will gain practical hands – on experience in your chosen trade area.
• Actual work experience on – site with a range of major contractors.
You will be supplied with protective clothing and receive support with travel.
The training will take place at North Liverpool Community Construction Centre and the work placements will be on sites within Liverpool.
Councillor Nick Small, Cabinet member for employment and skills, said; “We want as much local labour as possible working on major construction schemes in the area such as the new Archbishop Blanch and St Hilda’s schools and I would urge people looking for work in this sector to follow the routeway into construction.”
